About Leslie
Leslie is a person-centered therapist who believes in building self-awareness to identify values and overcome life’s challenges. She works collaboratively with clients to help reduce emotional dysregulation and impulsive behaviors and improve family and interpersonal relationships and overall quality of life. Leslie works with mood disorders, anxiety and stress, trauma, perinatal mood disorders, adolescent issues, self-esteem challenges, grief and loss, and life transitions. She uses several therapeutic modalities including ACT, CBT, and DBT all with a focus on mindfulness.
Leslie Faulhaber is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW-S). While originally from Chicago, she has lived and worked in Austin, TX and San Diego, CA in various settings. She studied Psychology at Indiana University and went on to earn her MSSW from University of Texas – Austin. Her passion started when working with youth and adolescents in a variety of settings including schools, group homes, youth shelters, leadership camps, and juvenile detention. She moved on to work with adults individually and in group settings treating mood disorders, addiction issues, anxiety, life transitions, and grief and loss. She has also worked with adults in both outpatient and inpatient hospital settings.
Leslie is also trained specifically in perinatal mood disorders. This specific population often underreports symptoms and scary behaviors or attributes them to "baby blues" or hormone changes. But, left untreated, these symptoms could lead to more severe symptoms and diagnoses of postpartum depression, anxiety, or even psychosis. Leslie works with these clients from a place of compassion and holding to help them be the parents they can and want to be.
